My name is Omeed Asadi. I’m a Senior Design Manager & Lead UX Instructor born + raised in Toronto.
Product. Design.
Product Design
I bring nearly a decade of expertise as a product + design manager, building beautiful and award-winning apps, websites, and user experiences. I’ve worked in youth banking, payments, ecommerce, taxes, and cannabis. I truly love design, have hired and managed 10+ designers/UX professionals, and am most in my element huddling with designers on Figma or a whiteboard.

How’d I get here?
After a couple years at Tim Hortons in digital marketing, I realized my heart (and talents) were actually in product management and design. Shortly after this realization, I cofounded a startup called sherpa.tax that grew to help over 250,000+ Canadians discover every single tax benefit they’re owed. I did this by building an excellent UX and UI platform and constantly iterating on it using best practices, data, and UX research. At the time, the tax industry was notoriously bad at this, so sherpa.tax and my growing team were able to excel. Over time, I became increasingly fascinated and focused on UX, UI, and product design.
After sherpa.tax, I was recruited by RBC Ventures (now RBCx) to build a youth banking startup, where I co-created and incepted what became MyDoh. I lead the user research, UX/UI ideation, and practically all else that pinpointed a massive opportunity for RBCx. We discovered that parents had significant difficulty teaching their children the value of money and healthy spending habits. Their children, on the other hand, needed something easy and rewarding to effectively learn about the value of money/spending. RBCx was in a unique spot to dominate this opportunity and have!
While working at RBCx, the Canadian government announced the legalization of cannabis and became laser focused on participating in this rare opportunity. The idea of being part of the end of prohibition and a pioneer in something no other country had accomplished was exhilarating During my 5 years at OCS, I lead Digital Experience and UX for OCS.ca, won multiple awards, created numerous industry and design standards unique to this industry, and watched the digital platforms I oversaw grow into a billion dollar revenue generators.
You can currently find me working at Interac, Canada’s leading payments organization, where I’m leading their UX and UI practice and building a team that will be designing digital payments experience for millions of Canadians.
